i've had a laundry disaster, and i thought you ladies would be the best to help!!
i've just washed my sons brand new red top with white sleeves, and the red bits have dyed the white bits a fetching shade of pink! i put it in a dark wash luckily, or all of my whites would now be pink too i think! argh!
is there anything i can do to salvage it?
TIA!

Do you have the receipt? Did you follow the washing instructions re temp etc? (or if you are feeling brave, you could err 'pretend' you did
)
If so, I would def return it as faulty.0 -
well our hot water heating system is rubbish so the water never gets much better than lukewarm in the washing machine, and the washing instructions said to wash with similar colours, so if i'd washed it with red then the sleeves would be even more pink? or with white then my whole load of white would have been pink!
can i really return it as faulty? i would have thought thats a bit cheeky for a laundry colour run?Mummy to

The only thing I could think of is something like Dr Beckmann's Colour Run Remover but the problem is you only want to remove the colour from the white bits not the red.

I've ruined a few items of clothing like this and it really annoys me, why do manufacurers use a dye that wil run onto other colours in the same top?
I agree with the_cat, if you followed the washing instructions take it back for a refund.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
I'm not a lady but I used to have one that insisted in washing my Martial Arts gear with colours so not suiting pink I did this:-
http://www.dylon.co.uk/products/colour-run-removers/ Sometimes called Dygon
or
wash it again PDQ on cool wash
or
Oxyclean soak for a while
never use salt or hot water alone...it makes it stay.
You may get away with hydrogen peroxide diluted if you can just do the sleeves, doubt it though.

Yes, as another poster says, return it to the shop! I've returned items that have run in the wash to Debenhams and Primark. Was so annoyed with the Primark top as it was white with blue sleeves and the blue dyed both the top and all the baby vests I was washing too:mad:. Both gave me a refund, no questions and Debenhams actually made a note of the issue with a view to recalling if this happened to anyone else (dunno what came of it tho) so you could notify the shop there's a problem so it doesn't happen to anypne else.
It's only a game

I'd take it back to the shop. If it said wash with similar colours and it's partly white then it's fair to assume the red wouldn't run - you could have put it in a white load and ruined everything.
It always makes me laugh when you've got a garment like your's or say black and white stripes and the label says 'wash dark colours separately'. How on earth can you do that?0 -
Having once turned all my husband's underwear pink when I accidentally threw in a red tee shirt into the machine with the rest of the White wash, I now try and avoid putting anything red into the washing machine at all and wash it by hand. Actuall I avoid that colour like the plague because it's just so unstable with other colours.0
