Bebo, anyone got any concerns???

A very simple way to block access to sites is to add a line to the "hosts" file in the windows directory, usually in a directory like C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
Adding a line such as
127.0.0.1 https://www.bebo.com
means the computer should go to the wrong IP address when the web browser tries to find bebo. 127.0.0.1 will send it to the local PC.
Not very sofisticated and easily bypassed or removed by non novice users though.
Alternatively if you are using a router it may have a built in fire wall which can be configured to prevent access to specific sites0 -
I have dealt with that head over bulling issues and i consider him worse than useless, all talk about what hes going to do but no actionarkonite_babe wrote:Ok, I looked at Bebo last nigh and without being registered for the site, I was able to view some extremely shocking and pornographic pictures. As my DD was told about this through her school, I'm going to enquire as to whether the school wish to remain associated with it. :mad:Well I Love Tv And I Love T. I know exactly Artofdookie, he's more concerned about the school image and wearing correct uniform etc than issues like bullying.0

This doesnt surprise me at all. I have never bothered with Bebo, but it is the same idea as faceparty and I know for fact that there are endless numbers of women with adult photographs (i dont know about men since i would never look!).
It really should be considered 'normal' to find this sort of material. It really is everywhere and it is harder to find a site which is 'clean'.2 + 2 = 4
except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.0 -
I don't feel that these kinds of sites should be considered "normal" and especially NOT when my 13yo DD is viewing them :mad:0

While you are quite right, it is an unfortunate fact of the internet. As far as I am concerned, it probably isnt safe to let someone loose on the net (unsupervised) until you have accepted that they may be viewing adult material.2 + 2 = 4
