  • Hi All,

I am brand new to the site/forums & I'm therefore after a little advice regarding 'comping'.

I have read the useful FAQ's on the other thread but have a few queries.

    1) First of all - In order to enter these comps safely ie, in order to avoid identity theft do I need to create a Web Alias? New email address, unique sim card for phone etc?

    2) What can I confidently expect as a return on say entering 5 comps per day? Some of the list of win in some users signatures seem unbelievable

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thx
(PS: Apologies if I've put this in the wrong place)!

Good evening all, I felt ok today so I went and donated blood, makes me feel happy knowing I might save someone's life xx
  • Hi WSForever,

there is a competition thread on the board where you might get some useful answers. Personally I use my normal email but a lot of people have set up a seperate one especially for comping. I must admit, trawlling through over 70 junk/newsletters of emails a day from companies of comps I have entered does get a bit tedious!

Hmmmm...5 a day I would not expect to win very much. I do about 500 a week and get about 2 wins a week.

I am quite new to this also so can't offer too much advice but hope it helps a little!

    Hi All,

I am brand new to the site/forums & I'm therefore after a little advice regarding 'comping'.
    Welcome WSforever

I have read the useful FAQ's on the other thread but have a few queries.

    1) First of all - In order to enter these comps safely ie, in order to avoid identity theft do I need to create a Web Alias? New email address, unique sim card for phone etc? A lot of us have a 'spare' email address specially for comping. As for phone, I just use my normal mobile, but only put it down if it's a good comp (Tv, holiday etc..) as they normally ask for email addy as well as phone and they don't need both! For my date of birth I always change the day by a couple of digits, just to be careful.

    2) What can I confidently expect as a return on say entering 5 comps per day? Some of the list of win in some users signatures seem unbelievable
Can I just say one thing, don't expect to win! It's a bonus and on 5 comps per day not a big one! I enter 100+ per day and the average wins per month really does vary from 5 to 10 if you're lucky. And not biggies either, a dvd or cd here and there. As a 'return' - well it's a hobby and should be treated as such really. You can't make a living out of it or anything like that (my opinion). Check out the postal/text section as they have good comps in there (sticky at top of comps forum) and choose wisely as spending does not always guarantee a return.
    And have fun!:D
Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A
    I would like to be lucky,healthy & happy in 2020! :T

Some wise words there. Postal comps certainly don't always give good financial returns in relation to the outlay.

Comping is fun. I have had some good wins this year, but for me its mainly relaxation after a demanding day at work. Most of the compers are a really friendy bunch which is another reward :)

    Hi! :santa2:

WSforever - I completely agree with everything isitenough, Prudent and Jemma have said. I enter over 100 per day and win around twice per week. Sometimes just a book, CD or a Crunchie.

My 'best' wins from a financial value have been a £2,000 Visit Scotland break and a £1,000 UK break (though I've also had a designer bag and some other wonderful things). Every prize is fantastic though - I love the surprise! The Crunchies were fab as they came wonderfully boxed too! Good Luck and, most importantly, enjoy it. If you're entering to win, it becomes a chore and comping should be fun.

Anyway - just a quick call in to say Hi! I'm away (again - comp win!) for a couple of days, but will be back at the weekend. grannybiker is kindly watching over the papers for me whilst I'm away :A I'll try to log in to do the Advents, if I can get my hands on the laptop!
    Good Luck everyone!

ps I'm happy cos I keep seeing that elusive Haggis this evening :rotfl:
