just had the most crappy experience with ikea at lakeside. we bought some units in black and got them home. eventually we got round to assembling them. i got the two drawer units assmebled then i went to the dresser and found it was white. so
we went a returned but making sure on the phone and online that there was one in stock. all day today we kept making sure via the web that there was still one there. so a hundred mile round trip turn out to be a complete waste of time as when i got to lakeside i returned the white one, got a voucher card to spen on the black one, went round down the aisle and guess what- EMPTY EMPTY and EMPTY. went and found an assistant and he said oh you shouldnt trust the website!!!!!!!! i then went to customer service who said well its your fault you shouldnt have come down as the website when it shows one that means its out of stock. so i spoke to themanager over the phone as i had to get home, he said again its your fault as you shouldnt trust our website and if its under ten for stock dont assume something is in stock.
so we are now without a black dresser unit and out of pocket for petrol.
i hate ikea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Given there was only one on the site, the sensible thing to do would have been to ring and check that it was there, and get it reserved.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

The best thing to do is make sure there are plenty in stock when you pop in again, not just one, ikea are a busy shop you know!
One tip, always, always check the label on the box. If you are buying matching items make sure the boxes match too, customers (and I'm sure staff occasionally) put items in the wrong place sometimes.
Also, i'm sure there are notices around telling customers to check the barcodes/get correct number of boxes as they remove stock from the shelves.:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly

I bet the one showing as in stock was the one they had on show. I wanted a snoa heart rug and they only had the one nailed to the display there!Saying that though we were dealt with by a very helpful young man in customer services so he made up for it.xXx-Sukysue-xXx0

This happens time and time again. We were in a queue recently trying to sort a problem out and the lady in front had been back so many times to try and get a particular item. Ikea refused to reserve it for her on the phone.0

I bought some kitchen cupboards from Ikea Lakeside, got home found one pack was the wrong size. Luckily it was just shelving, CS offered to deliver it to us, (free) but it would take a couple of weeks. They said to dispose of the wrong size shelves, didn't want them back. I had checked all the sizes colours at the store, but this pack had been resealed and the details were covered.
Another time I bought 6 grey window poles, when the rings were out of stock. The rings never came back in stock and the range was discontinued
