Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
Our sky TV has just gone wrong and when my husband rang them he was quoted £65 to have it mended which I think is a huge cheek. We have been with them since the days when it cost £9 a month, never called them out and this is only the second time we have had a problem.
I know that there is another number we can ring which is free. We thought about ringing up and cancelling it and then taking out a new system, (in my name, same address) would this work?
Anyone any experience of this situation. Or do I just give in and pay the £65, which would just mean mending an old system which could go wrong anyway again

You could phone them up and threaten to cancel your subscription and tell them you have been a customer for ages and think it is disguisting to pay to get it repaired as someone in a previous SKY thread sone this and apparantly got it repaired for free
They might just turn around and say that the box is only under warrenty for the initial 12 months and if it goes wrong then you have to bear the costs but it won't harm in trying
I think you should be able to find the freephone number on https://www.saynoto0870.com0 -

not a good idea they will have you on the system at that address
Try the I'M CANCELLING as i can't afford to get it fixed routine,
this normally works
anyway if its just sky and not sky+ you can normally pick up a box cheaper that the £65 quoted0 -
Just threaten to leave. I'm with NTL, my bill should be £70.00 a month but I pay £50.00. There is a tread here should give you all the advice you need
