ongoing joint mortgage

p1987
I have a joint motrgage with my ex fiance. during my time at the house i asked her it would be easier just to sell the house now, take the debt and move on but she didnt want to do this.
after much arguing and and assault a few months ago (on her part); i had to leave the property as i felt under threat.
ive had a letter stating the obvious from her solicitor saying i still have to pay the mortgage as its my legal obligation... there is no way i can make these payments as a) im paying for another property b) im struggling for £ c) i have a car
what do i do? i feel overwhelmed with all this? ive had people telling me i need a solicitor and other people telling me that i dont need a solicitor?
one final question... how do i pay solicitor fees if it does come to this?
please advise
thanks

You have 2 options:
1) You are responsible for the debt as you took it out in joint names so keep paying.
2) Dont pay and then the bank will reposses and chase both you and your ex for the balance.
Both these solutions dont involve a solicitor.0
