After entering my Visa card even though the total was £0.00 on the Kitbag checkout page my RBS secure verification has a total of £5.00. Unsure whether to proceed as it looks as if it is asking me to approve a total of £5.00

i had the same thing, but with Barclaycard - i can only hope it's how their system works - it may "ring-fence" the full amount and only request the post-discount price later.
I've risked it but i've made sure to take a printout of the "receipt" so i can query it later should they charge the full amount.

if you print off the reciept given at the end of transaction, you have proof of your purchase amount and will be able to get your money back if they do overcharge you. hassle I know, but only you can weigh up the odds of whether its worth still doing or not
