Pantene Smooth and Silk - has it changed?

I've used Pantene Smooth and Silk for years and it's left my hair looking lovely till now. I've got normal straight hair that goes a bit dry on the ends due to the length. I usually wash it every 2-3 days as it starts looking slightly greasy by day 3-4, and I put conditioner on from my neck downwards and not my scalp. I don't use styling products other than a quick blast of hairspray and I don't use heated tools on it.

I bought two bottles of the new 500ml size as they were on offer and started using one of the new bottles. My hair went extremely greasy. It was so bad, I washed it around 8pm one night and by the next morning it was very noticeably greasy - yuk!

I've since bought some Elvive and used that for a week, and the greasy problem cleared up and my hair looked nice again.

I've just tried the Pantene again, and the greasy hair has come back :(

Does anyone know if the forumla for it has been changed in some way? It's pretty strange that I've used it for years and all of a sudden this has happened.
Here I go again on my own....

I think it must have. I used to use Pantene with no problems and it made my hair look really nice. The last two bottles I had both made my hair lank and greasy and I got lots of spots on my scalp!

I won't use Pantene any more!

Funny, I was just thinking the new pantene volumising shampoo I bought was rubbish, was leaving my hair flat and more baldy looking than ever! I think perhaps the bottle had different wording on it, as I bought the new bottle from lidl and I'm sure the last one said "Volumising something or other" and this one is "Volume and whatever" .... John Frieda here I come.
  • I used Pantene for years and the past couple of months my head started getting realy sore and my scalp felt like it was very tight, together with my hair looking lank and losing it's shine.
I changed to a different shampoo and the scalp problems are now gone and my hair is back to normal.
I thought it was just me but yes I do think Pantene is now different.

Sounds like product build up- panetene has a LOT of silicons in, its not the only brand, but it does have more then most other brands- hence the "silky" feeling you feel after use. But the thing is, after a while your hair gets a build up with all the silicons in the products. Your hair folicles may relase their own type of oils to get rid of the silicons (can often happen after your scalp just gets sick of all the silicons and starts trying to get rid of them itself) or it could be a hormonal change, feeling more stress, anything, but your hair creates more oils and so your hair looks greasy as a result.

I would just change your hair care line- you may be able to go back to panetene after a break for a while, Its a bit like an intolerance thing, some people are fine after they have a few weeks/months break, others are changed forever. Depends on many factors.

Not an expert on all this, but did read a bit on silicons in hair products after I got sick of having half greasy-half frizzy hair. Not using silicons in hair products makes a difference to me anyway.
