but doesn't the one @ SVP have a 12ms response time (compared to 8ms for the ccl one)
i'm not great with monitors...would you look at other things besides response time b4 committing to a certain brand/model?0 -
I don't think you'll notice any difference. My monitor has a response time of 16ms and I don't have any problems when it comes to gaming and watching movies.
The lower the response time the better of course.0 -

Response times don't really mean much if you are not a gamer. The thing I am paranoid about is getting a monitor and finding it has dead pixels. Some better monitors have guarantees relating to this - and they vary dependent on manufacturer too. You may also want to consider whether the monitor is height adjustable, whether it has DVI (digital) input, what is the manufacturers warranty (length of time and is it onsite). I think you will find that the slower response time monitors could well give better viewing angles than the fast response time ones... which is probably more important to non-gamers.
Personally I would be tempted to go for the 1906FP on the DELL website which says it is for Optiplex machines only - but I can't see how it can be... it should work on any machine - excellent image, height adjustable stand, USB ports ...on offer at £157.98 inc delivery.

It doesn't fall into the category the OP is interested in - but if you want quality at a good price this could be for you.0 -
Also the brightness... 300 candlepower against only 250 for the SVP.I ♥ MSE0

The SVP one also has a better viewing angle, but no DVI. Swings and roundabouts ... Get what's best for you or flip a coin.0

SVP do a 30 day no quibble warranty.
If I was buying a monitor from one of two vendors and one had a 30 day no quibble, thats the one I'd go for.
Even better if I could get the same price in PC World or Staples and I could see the monitor in action before I part with my dosh to look for focus and dead pixels, but that's not really possible cos the best prices are usually over the net!

As someone caught in the CCL graphics card thing - I can't recommend avoiding high enough - they took my money for a while then refused to supply the goods claiming they couldn't get them despite loads of other companies having them in stock. There is no intelligent life out there ... ask any goldfish!0
