is it for a specific recipe? does it need to be soft or hard?
off the top of my head... I think manchego is sheeps cheese - that's a very hard cheese. some feta will be sheeps cheese if it is authentic.weaving through the chaos...0 -
hard cheese please. Just need an alternative to cow's milk:A

when DH stopped eating cow's milk products I used manchego as an alternative to cheddar. when eaten raw you can tell it's not cheddar but when cooked, on lasagne etc you couldn't tell. otherwise I used to use a mild hard goats cheese, for example St Helen's Farm - it doesn't have that strong goaty taste that soft goats cheese has.
hope that helps!weaving through the chaos...0 -

Sometimes if you search for ewe's milk cheese it'll come up under that, rather than sheep's cheese. There are quite a lot of ewe's milk cheese out there, and we have quite a few native British ones too - this list might come in handy. If you like near a local deli they might be able to help you, and generally they're happy to let you try before you buy too.0

Also proper feta - you need to read the packet. Roquefort is a blue sheeps' cheese.
And are goat's cheeses OK, as there are rather more of them. Sainsbo's does a selection inc a goats chedder and a number of soft, and soft rind (camebert) varieties. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Saw some sheep milk cheese in Morrisons only last week - prepacked, next to all the other hard cheeses. My youngest was fascinated by the thought of it!0

was going to say look for ewes milk cheese but another poster beat me to it! also - farmers markets usually have a selection of sheep and goat cheese. you can also find specialist suppliers online. can i ask if you are looking for sheeps cheese as an alternative to cows milk cheese because of allergy to dairy?? my son had dairy allergy and i used to buy ewe milk cheese and goat cheese for him at a local market stall. some feta cheese is ewes milk (check the ingredient list) also buffalo mozzarella was ok for him! i prefered the farmers market as we could taste cheese and decide if it was right for us (they did both hard and soft cheeses) cant remember names as it was years ago but am sure i have seen some in asda on cheese counter. for some reason goat cheese (soft) was his fave and he def didnt like the blue cheeses! and the rest of the family liked HIS cheeses too!0

Pecorino - should be next to the Parmesan
Ricotta
Roquefort (as already mentioned)
Manchego (as already mentioned)
A convenient list here although I doubt Asda will stock many of them (or any other supermarket, for that matter)
As suggested, due to many having a lactose intolerance, the label will usually indicate if a cheese is made from Ewe's milk, rather than cow's milk (lactose).
HTHWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0
