DFW Shopping tart!!!

Today I needed to buy some basics - toilet roll, soy sauce, eggs and bread so went to my local Aldis. Managed to get most except soy sauce so decided to nip nearby to Farmstores another cheapie shop. Wow first time there and I was amazed at their prices. Some things are much cheaper than anywhere else but Aldi's are better for others and Sainsburys are better again for the rest especially their basics brands. However to take full advantage of the cost I would need to do several different shops a week/month at different stores and I have not got the time or the patience for that! Still Having spent the last 18 years shopping at Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsburys I am no longer going to put up with their overpricing so I'll work out a way to take advantage of Aldi and Farmstores prices, I am a DFW and MS afterall:rotfl:

But if you get organised enough and buy enough of one thing from each shop to last say two months then you would only need to go to one a month.
I often go two or three different supermarkets a week if I am in the area and see what is the best offers.
But then I have iceland, somerfield and sainsburys in my town centre so it does not take that long.
And I have enough loo roll to sink a battle ship. With only two of us living here. It might last a little while. As I buy it when it is on offer.

I've seen the banners go up on our new one in Canterbury and can't wait for it to open, and it's within relative walking distance from my house!

I've never been to a Farmstores before. We have one quite local but have never gone there. We go over to Aldis about every 6-8 weeks and buy all our baked beans, tinned toms, sweetcorn, tuna, kidney beans in bulk to last the few weeks. Excellent value for money! Their ham, cheese and bread sundries are very good quality and have been very impressed with nearly all items bought from there.
We have a Lidls on the doorstep but really only go there for top ups of fruit/veg if on half price and the occasional milk, cheese, ham, coleslaw etc if we run out. Their fruit and veg when half price is excellent value.

i love my local Farmfoods, they have some great deals on frozen and my local one even has a large range of vegetarian food which saves me a small fortune.
My only caution is always check the BBE dates, sometimes you can get caught out, my local one is even doing fruit and veg now and i got two big bags of bananas for £1, more than they can eat in a week with all the other fruit so i will be making some banana muffins.
Have to say not overly impressed with my local aldi, but always pop in on the off chance.
My OH always takes a little notpad and pen and writes down the shops and prices of things we always buy and any offers on and the dates the offers end. This makes menu making a little easier and has helped me stay in budget each week.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash
