applying for mortgage after divorce

Hi. Dont usually post on this board.

My partner has after many cout proceedings finally been granted a divorce. As part of the divorce settlement he has been ordered that he remains on the mortgage for the former matrimonial home for a maxmum of 4 years. he has been indemnified from paying the mortgage although we understand that if his ExW renages on payment of the mortgage then he is still jointly liable for it.

My question is, given this situation, is he likely to be approved for a joint mortgage with myself within this 4 year interval?

I own my own house but obviously we would like to move on and own our own jointly in the near future probably in a different part o fthe country.

Thanks in advance
