P46

I went the an agency today to register, and been given a P46 to fill out (http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/p46.pdf). After filling it in, I'm not sure if I've done it right. If I've done it wrong, I need to contact the agency, and ask them to change it on my behalf.
My situation is:
Benefit. I do not receive a state or occupational pension.' under the 'Your circumstances' section.
I put an 'X' in the box for the following statement 'If you left a course of Higher Education before last 6 April and received your first Student Loan
instalment on or after 1 September 1998 and you have not fully repaid your Student Loan, enter 'X' in box D. (If you are required to repay your Student Loan through your bank or building society account do not enter an 'X' in box D.)'
Did I fill in the form correctly?
My situation is:
- on JSA
- unemployed
- finished university in June 2009 (started in September 2006), and haven't started paying off student loan yet
- student loan is under the 'old' system (i.e. not paying £3000 of tuition fees)
Benefit. I do not receive a state or occupational pension.' under the 'Your circumstances' section.

It sounds like you have filled in the form correctly....
although ideally the jobcentre should give you a p45 which you should give to your new employers- rather than you filling in a p46. but I don't think it matters too much.
Actually I read that again- have the agency actually given you a job yet?0 -
If you left university in June 2009 then you didn't leave a course of higher education before last 6 April.
So I would say you have filled in the form incorrectly.0 -
The agency hasn't given me a job yet. I just registered with them, as well as doing the necessary tests, provided ID/address, signed/read temp worker contract, and fill in application forms.
They found some jobs for me, and forward my CV to the client company. Sometime next week, I will have a call from the agency about the time/date of the interview with the client company.0 -

I completed the course, and graduated. I didn't 'leave' my course or anything like that.0 -

You didn't leave a course of higher education before last 6 April so shouldn't have put an X in that box.
Maybe I'm wrong though, your questions do usually baffle and confuse me, to be honest.0 -

Looks like I need to call them to change it then... Since I filled it wrong, the tax code will be wrong, and more tax will be taken?
I entered a 'X' because near the end of the statement it says "(If you are required to repay your Student Loan through your bank or building society account do not enter an 'X' in box D.)" This is why I put a 'X'.I have no choice.
I thought student loans are deducted from my salary by the employer?0
