Hi
I was made bankrupt earlier this year through the LILA route. I will be hopefully starting temporary work soon but am wondering what happens with regards to an IPA. I am currently living with my mother and will be paying halve of the bills as she has been good to me throughout this whole thing and other family have been helping her with the bills as I have been unable to. Can anyone tell me is there certain amounts you are allowed to put down for rent,gas/elec,groceries,etc? Also how much would you need to have left each month before you would need to make an IPA? I will be working for approx £6per hour full time and once I have paid the bills I think I will be lucky if am left with £40 each month. I know someone else who was made bankrupt and the time they paid there bills there were lucky if they had £30 at the end of the month and they still had to pay back £120 every month. Thanks in advance for any help.

how can someone be made pay back £120 pm,when they only have £30 pm surplus???????0

Am not sure but I know that when they did their SOA they were left with approx £30 each month but they were told they had to pay back £120. Thats why am wondering how it is calculated.0
-
Well it aint calculated on imaginary number in the sky - if their SOA shows £30, they shouldn't be paying £120! (unless their SOA is done either weekly - or VERY WEAKLY!)Would you ask the wolves to look after the sheep?

Hi
If you search the threads you should find the list of allowances you can say you have for expenditure .Depending on how many people you are responsible for adjusts your allowances .Certain things are not allowed like say gym memberships but others are like clothes .Unfortunately there does seem to be several grey areas and i get the feeling it depends on the OR. In your situation it will be difficult if the main household bills are all in your parents name so you might want to list your contributions as rent .Hope this is of some help but woukld recommend you have a good read of lots of threads on IPA's0 -
Thanks for the advice am just a bit scared now that they wont let me contribute my half of the bills as they are in my parents names although my father no longer lives with us. I only have 3months to go until my bankrutpcy is finished they whole situation has affected me and i went through a period of depression. This is the first job that I have been able get and am worried now that i wont be able to pay my share of the bills after being unable to help for so long.0
