Gem thats a real tricky one. I would seriously ask to have a word with her and say while you are more than happy to help her and have given up your time to help say how you wondered if leaving an email open for you to see was done on purpose and was there something she wanted to discuss with you? That way you are putting it back on to her. I would then say that you both have to work together and feel its appropriate to make those higher aware of the situation as you are now aware that you are a victim of character assination (sp)

I need some serious advice :(

My colleague is not exactly great at computers so I had to go into her area to forward some work to myself via email for today. I've had to do this before so she is aware I have her login details.
Anyway, there was an email selected when I logged in which I shouldn't have read but did. Basically, she is undermining me to staff at the school because she's pally with them outside (personal links).
What do I do? She's making me look like a moron and I refuse to have her ruin my ideal job.

Weirdly I'm going to say ignore it - but never help her with computers again - if she asks just say you dont know how

It really isnt worth getting into a discussion about what she thinks about how you do your job, the other people may believe her or not but unless they are your direct boss I really wouldnt worry - they can think what they like, just prove them wrong by doing what you do every day - your job well!

She's so childish it's unreal. I knew she'd get in with the teachers as she's an ex-teacher herself and her partner is too. But holding secret cocktail parties and sending sneaky emails is just pathetic.

Problem is, me not helping her is making my work more difficult, I said to her yesterday about not updating properly and she bit my head off!

  • That's a tough one Gem, I'd be tempted to get someone else there as a witness if you do decide to speak to her. Can you get back on and print the email out in case she realises and decides to delete it?

  • i might even forward that back to myself and let her see the fact that you forwarded it... then see if she comes to you on it.......

Its not like forwarding emails is hard work though is it...suggest she ask for some training if she doesnt have the tools to do her job effectively!

(by the way shes most likely jealous of you and your ability to actually use computers and is therefore finding other things to pick you apart on...how childish!)

Think you've hit the nail on the head there - she probably feels threatened if you are better than her at things.

Gem, this is really difficult. Did you have permission from her to access her 'area' and emails on this occasion? If not, you're the one in the wrong and I'd keep quiet. If you did have permission I'd tackle her about it.

Morning all, at work today but would rather be at home.
Am like Sammy and ignoring the fly lady stuff, but that's probably more due to me not understanding it :p
