can a discharged bankrupt work as financial adviser?

On 7th August this year, I was discharged from bankruptcy.

Are there any laws or legal settings that would prevent me indefinitely from EVER taking up a job as financial adviser in the UK?

Or is it that most financial companies do not wish to have a discharged bankrupt on their payroll, although they could if they wanted to?

Is there any point in me sending out applications?

Does anyone know more about this??

Cheers,
Bissous

Which financial body are you affiliated to. It would probably be worth checking their rules.

As for employers from what I read on here and elsewhere it can be a bit hit or miss as to whether some will employ you or not.

I would say it's a bit of both. The FSA who regulate FA's frown upon it I think and major banks don't consider bankrupts from my experience.
Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

The FSA say they judge each case on it's merits but it will cost you £1500 to find out (non-refundable). No company will authorise you either unless you find a freindly one that will allow you to trade under their licence.
