I need a permanent job

Like a lot of people I've been applying for jobs for months and had to get a Christmas temp job because it's better than nothing. I'm doing 20 hours a week and was told that overtime would almost definatley happen and that i would probably be kept on afterwards. Now Ive learnt that that isn't going to happen and its just not enough. I'm coming out with £140 a week. I've got debts that i want to work hard to pay off amongst other things.
I was just wondering if people could suggest places, companies, organisations, self-employed work etc that i could look in to which would give me a permanent wage for at least 6 months?
Would it be bad of me to leave my xmas temp job if offered more hours elsewhere?
Many thanks in advance :A

Recruitment agencies - Hays, Pertemps, etc etc.
Permanent wage? There isn't such a thing. Permanent job - you'll be very lucky to get one before Jan 2010 if you start applying now.
The only thing stopping you from leaving your temp xmas job is your conscience. If they can't offer you more hours, then that's their problem. If you need a reference, then maybe think again before moving on and work your agreed time.Success and failure is determined by effort.0 -

Are you looking for a full time job or a permanent one - they aren't the same thing.0 -

Ahem - there is such a thing as a full-time permanent job.
Full-time temp
Part-time temp
Full-time perm
Part-time perm
Fixed term PT contract
Fixed term FT contract
to name a few.Success and failure is determined by effort.0 -

Yes, I know that, although your information may be useful to the OP.
The OP said that s/he was looking for a permanent job for 6 months, which stuck me as a contradiction in terms - which was why I asked for clarification.0 -
If you find better..leave. Companies won't think twice about getting shut of you if money is tight or they can save by doing so....loyalty can be costly for an employee.

I would leave only if you definitely get another job with more money. £140 is better then nothing also its miles better then JSA.0

Yeah sorry if I'm confusing, i need a permanent job. Even if it's a perm part-time job at least i know I'll be getting a wage after January.
I don't like confrontation or the feeling of letting people down so I'm feeling really anxious and worried at the moment.
I have an informal meeting with a manager who needs someone for a FT Perm job role, if i secure that then i will leave my current PT job and horrrayyy I won't be pennyless!0
