Tied in to a job because of study agreement

Can anyone help me with this one? I have asked the OR but they haven't got back to me and it's been nearly 2 weeks now.

BR in July. In Dec/Jan of last year I signed up to do a uni course that work were going to pay for. However, I'm tied in to the job for a month for every £250 of the course which is 17 months after the course has been completed.

I really want to change jobs as not having a very good time a the moment health wise and work wise.

If I leave, can they come after me for the money, or because I signed this agreement before I went BR, will it be included as part of that? I didn't include it on my SOA as I never gave it any thought?

Thanks for your help in advance!

has your employer got a study agreement in place? that will tell you whether they would want the money back if you left - i'm not sure if it will go into your br

  • Hi,

I can't give you any advice only to say that my oh had & job where they paid for training. He left about 2 yrs before br and already had a ccj & AOE for the training fees. This has all gone into his br no probs.

One of the others may have more info for you on this.

    Good luck

I'm not sure how your BR affects this but your employer as per your agreement will certainly take the first steps to collect the debt unless they are told otherwise.

I assume you've got an agreement that states if you leave within a certain period of time you have to pay back their sponsorship?

Please be aware employers can no longer take back the entire amount, it must be pro rota now, ie. they have had the benefit.

ie. if your sponsorship was £1200 and if you leave within 1 year and your 6 months you only owe £600.

    Good Luck.
