If the adverts on the telly are to believed, furniture is on sale everyday.
January sales; Spring sales; Summer sales; Winter sales they even have special sales when it's the dogs birthday.

Selected sofas and furniture are put on half price purchase within stores about 2 weeks before and sold off to make room for the actual sale. They get snapped up within about 2 hours of going on sale!! It is rare to see sofas online in the sale as sofas are made to order therefore are not kept in stock to sell as such, however occasionally there are some pre built ones that do find their way on general sale. Hth.

I bought a sofa bed from next in the summer sale. It was the only item that appeared to be in the VIP sale. It was reduced from £500 to £240.

Thinking ahead for Boxing Day, larger Next stores will have various ex display sofas (and other furniture) at 50% off on the day, and if anything is ever left its reduced to 75% off a few days later (generally not much though).

Most people buying the furniture have already been in pre sale and decided what they want in the sale, and so as the store opens at 5am they sit on the sofa etc so that they can buy it and grab an SA to give details to before anyone else can get it.

I have actually worked at Next in the furniture dept, and was one of the people trying to sort out the 5am scrum so I know what I am talking about.

One thing to mention.... I know this is sort of obvious but... the ex display sofa is the style and colour they have in store and you see in front of you (occassionally they also have "returned" sofas from home ordering). I got regularly asked "Can I have this is another colour\style" and the answer is No, as it's just whatever they have got in unless you want to order it and pay full price pre sale.

You can always ask them to check stock in another store though, as in North West alone, you have a massive Next Home dept in the Arndale Centre, and Middlebrook (Bolton) and a Next Home specific store at Barton Square, Trafford Centre. Barton Square is the best one to head for furniture and homeware bargains.

Down south, there is a massive Next Home in Thurrock, and also Tottenham Court Road as well.

Thanks to everyone for your advice. I think I will bite the bullet and order at full price to avoid disappointment (and the scrum)!

Next have issued a home catalogue i have had it delivered this week, for prieview of 2010 homewares with a discount of 15% if you order before the 21st November? (sure this was the date, but could be wrong) I don't have the details on me but maybe it's something you can check with the order line.

Do you know if I would be eligable for this offer if I do not have the new directory? Is there a code I need?

    Thanks

Not sure where you live Jbo8 but certainly in Staffs there is an outlet where they sell Next and M & S furniture, sofas etc. at half price. Went there myself last week. If they don't have what you want in they will let you know when they do have it. They make the furniture for those stores. The staff are very helpful. Not sure where they deliver to but you could ask!
Not sure whether I can post the name but it's Westbridge Furniture Designs Ltd
