Ive never understood anyone who uses these hamper companies or the ones where you put money in and receive vouchers or food at overinflated prices, or the christmas catalogue ones. Ive always put money by in a savings account therefore gaining a small amount of interest and then i can take it out when i want and buy the christmas goodies when there on offer and have the food i like instead of a tin of pilchards and stewed fruit lol (which is whats normally in them, a load of rubbish lol). These vouchers/hampers always remind me of years ago when a boyfriend of mine saved the ones you could use in high street stores (or so he thought). He went to the till armed with goods only to be told they didnt accept them even though the name of the store was on the voucher. Along came the manager and a row started, i was motified, i felt such a buttie standing there with him and was so embarressed for him that he never ever used those companies ever again. BTW he got the goods as he should have, but with other shoppers in the queue probably thinking what i was thinking lol, he left red faced at the thought of what people were thinking of him. Thats why i cant fathom out why anyone would give that sort of company your money when you should have the willpower to put a few quid a week away.0

I think you have hit the nail on the head, willpower.
Some people are on low incomes, and have been for a long time. They have learned, through bitter experience that if they save money something will come along and they will "have" to use those savings.
So they put their xmas money where they can't use it for something else.0 -
Why dont they just collect supermarket savings stamps ?0
