I do like the idea of an Indian Aircraft Carrier/Floating Call Centre though.
I'm just imagining the IVR script now :-
- press "1" for munitions
- press "2" for Flight control
- press "3" for Scramble All Planes
- if you'd like to speak to an advisor, please hold, and a rapid helicopter deployment team will be along shortly.0 -
Do you have a reference for that?
Tax freedom day is now May 30th, 2003 it was 3 days earlier.Google it Zapp.....This means every penny for the first 152 days of a year that someone works and earns ,it all goes in taxes..;)
My point is we are paying lots and lots of tax.......too much in fact, partly why people borrow so much to buy a house , not much money left after Darling has his wedge and some.......0 -

<Googles>
Hmm, http://www.adamsmith.org/tax-freedom-day/Tax Freedom Day, the day in the year when the average Briton has earned enough to pay his annual tax bill, will fall on 14 May this year.... This is the earliest Tax Freedom Day since 1973
Looks like the Adam Smith Institute doesn't agree. What goes around - comes around0 -
Bring back our troops ... to sort out our chavs.0

If we sold one of the 2 new carriers to India, shouldn't we sell the other to Pakistan? ...just for the reasons of fairness like
Then, they can have a go at trying to sink each others carrier, and just maybe we get to build them another.0 -
Surely the thing to do is simply mothball it? It wont eat any bread and just needs enough maintenance to keep it serviceable? Thick stupid Government.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Stealth taxes and more stealth taxes.........Don't knock the tax payers, knock the long term ,lazy dole scroungers(not the genuine ones)and MP,s
" Secreting away supposed Tax money" isn't stolen its just not paid......
I would agree if someone charges VAT to a customer and doesn't forward that money to HMRC then thats stealing ....Theres a big difference:rolleyes:
So if i go into someone elses house, take their TV and hide it in their shed, that's OK is it? Because it's not 'stolen'...it's just put somewhere where the rightful owners can't find it...
 back atcha
Besides, it's not the odd few undeclared hours here and there that makes such a dent in the pot, it's big business...educated people who know all the loopholes and milk it for all and as long as they can.
And everyone pays into the system, whether they're working or not. The only way not to is to go totally off grid, and how many people on the dole can afford to do that do you think?
It's all too easy to blame the poorest and least educated sections of society for all it's ills. But just consider this...this is a money saving forum. There's people on here up to their eyes in debt and struggling on a daily basis to pay it back. You won't find many people on the dole with debts like that. And what was it that was blamed for this latest credit crunch/recession?
Of course you're always going to get the few that extract the urine (probably similar numbers with those who work those few undeclared hours TBH), but it's by no means the majority, people like that have been around before the welfare state was introduced, and always will be. It just really gets to me that so many people can be tarred with the lazy scrounger brush, just because it's easier than going after the bigwigs because they've got more clout. Believe me, for most, it isn't a lifestyle choice. 0 -

I went to school with people who ,to this day have never worked or paid a penny into the system and thats over 24 years..

Ive read the Bankrupt forum for the last 12 months and yes I agree there are some genuine cases ,especially in the past 12 months, equelly there are the same number of Chavs who when post their SOA you find out they have 7 CC (Total Debt £25k or more), 5 unsecured loans amounting to ££££££ Thousands of pounds of debt whilst earning £12k a year..sorry No sympathy....
Will have to agree to differ Im afraid0 -
OK then, some figures for you...
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/benefit-fraud-data.pdf <<benefit fraud figures -900m - 2bn per year.
http://www.is4profit.com/small-business-news/20090123-record-unpaid-overtime-recorded.html <<unPAID, not undeclared overtime. 26bn
http://mobile.itweek.co.uk/itweek/news/2183931/unpaid-overtime-costs-workers <<< what each IT worker loses every year in unpaid overtime. 5k
Where do you think all this money goes? Not in the worker's pocket, nor into the coffers. Makes the money that those lazy wasters make seem like a drop in the ocean, doesn't it?0 -
Ps...not everyone on the dole is a chav, just so you know

And if we're just talking 1 persons JSA + LHA, it falls pretty far off the mark of 12k...0
