KFC Gravy?

O.K. I had no idea where abouts on MSE to ask this so I put it here.

Has anyone ever tried to freeze KFC's gravy? I only discovered how good it is when my husband (Canadian) one day said I should have a try of his and now we share some as a treat once in a while.

We've now decided we want to have the KFC gravy with our Christmas dinner (just the 2 of us) but I don't want to have to go and get it on Christmas Eve so thought of popping in before the big day and putting in the freezer.

I'm sure I'll have plenty of replies of how bad it is for us but I'll just ignore those! ;)

Thanks in advance.

  • I have frozen gravy before, but it came out more watery when i defrosted it,so i added some smash potatoe flakes to thicken up as i never get on with corn flour!I had no complaints!HTH X

Iv never tried to freeze it but why not have a practice run for Xmas. Buy a KFC next week, get an extra tub of Gravy and freeze it and try it in a couple of weeks? Perfect excuse for a KFC.

can you not find out what gravy powder they use and get that or maybe bride an employee to 'aquire' some for you ?
  • Aye, Just ask manager for a cold portion. I'd guess it's just microwaved.

For an instant gravy you should try 'Bisto Best' granules.
You can get chicken, beef; lamb; or vege.
Then you can keep it in a jar in the cupboard, saves you running out to the shops.

  • sorry guys its not just powder or microwaved, its made from the cournels very own mixture plus the stuff thats made when the chicken is cooked thats what makes it so nice and tasty. i used to make it fresh everyday when i worked there.

tried to freeze some years ago myself, nowhere near as good as it tastes fresh but liked suggested before try a trail run. its years since i worked there maybe they changed it.

    mmmm fancy a kfc now!

Thanks WATTY... do you have any idea how long it would keep in the fridge before it is beyond the point of being safe to use?

Thanks for that princessleah_ very interesting but I think I'd rather go pick some up on Christmas Eve. It'll be cheaper than flying to the States to find the 'Franco American beef gravy'!
