What makes you think it needs relining? If its coming nto the roof round the chmney it'll be the flashing. But the wind / rain yesterday have probably conspired to drive the water in through the smallest hole. If its a one off then its possibly an extraordinary event so if it were me I'd just monitor it and leave well alone meantime.
Of and if you want to have it reflashed £ 250 - £300 I guess.

I assumed they meant leaking smoke rather than water.0

Yeah - good point - my bad! My assumption was that water was getting in after yesterday! Just shows that assumptions can be misleading.I assumed they meant leaking smoke rather than water.
Perhaps the OP would clarify please.

Thanks for the replies

Yes its smoke thats coming into the loft. We have found holes in the in the mortar and have filled them in but there are one that we cant reach further down.
Ive been looking around other sites and its looks like its going to be about 1k
Always something with houses ey !!0 -
You could DIY the insertion of the liner - purchase from here for example but you'd need a registered pro to fit it all up at the fire end. The chimney itself need checking though. A sudden influx of flue gases into the bulding means something has happened. If you can get that done within your £ 1k as well it would be money well spent.lauren1983 wrote: »Thanks for the replies

What kind of fire is it that you are using, Solid fuel or gas? If you go on the NACS website then there a contact numbers for chimney sweeps all over the country. They would probably be able to give you a more accurate idea of what you need to sort out your chimney, and what the cost would be. http://www.chimneyworks.co.uk/ PS i am not a sweep!0
