Bank arresting salary dilemma ?

Received a letter from TRITON credit services on behalf of RBS; the majority of my debt is with RBS informing me that if I dont stump up, solicitors may commence 'Attachment of Earnings / Wage Arrestment proceedings', I took advice from CCCS a few months ago and opened a basic account with another Bank and imported my salary and ddebits into the new Bank.
The plan was to try and save to pay court fees for Bankruptcy but not making much progress with this.
My question is can they do this ? I know I'm at fault for sticking my head in the sand and ignoring letters/not opening them.
Hope someone here can help me with this.

  • Hi triton are RBS in house debt collectors! They would only get an attachment of earnings order if it went to court and they won - Wouild cost them money to go that route. What you say about taking money from one account to another in the same bank is called " offsetting". That's why you should always get another account with a different bank- Co-op and the PO are two basic account providers. I also have one of those cash cards. Where you preload mony to it and then can use it anywhere - ie online - I never give online services my bank's real details. you never know whos watching.

The total is approx is £12,000 within 2 o/ds and a loan; haven't paid anything towards them as I was going to try for bankruptcy as full total is approx £22,000 (the other is credit cards including a RBS one but have just received a CCJ thru the post for this one, £1,377)
