Exchanging games at shops you didn't buy it from

Hi, I was given a game for the Xbox360 (brand new, released a couple of weeks ago, still shrinkwrapped, etc). The thing is, I don't have an Xbox360, or an Xbox. I took it to Game (without receipt, I don't have one & can't get one) to see if I could swap it for Guitar Hero on the PS2 (of course paying the difference). Got a straight out 'no chance'... they offered me £17 if I was to trade it in as 'pre owned'.

I know this sounds dodgy - and I can assure you the game is legit, and not nicked - but it's really no good to me. Is there some way of being able to swap it for another game at some stores without a receipt?

Thanks all

Its gonna be a lot of luck and lieing your head off.

Try supermarkets, say it was bought as a gift for you by a relative down south/up north and you dont have the recipt and they dont have it anymore. ohh and they paid cash for it because the can trace card payments. Some stores can go back through their records and find the recipt if your unlucky.

If you have any luck let us know I have a game I would like to swap. ebay prices are no good so I dont want to put it on there.
  • Why not buy something at said shop for the same price on your CC (and ask for a sealed item). Take the first game back using your CC statement as proof of purchase (don't forget that proof of purchase doesn't have to be a receipt), then take the second game back using the receipt.
