Welcome Finance Advice

Hi everyone. Im sorry if this has been posted before I did have a quick look but couldnt find anything.
Basically I took out a Welcome finance loan about 2 years ago for £1900, I did start paying the monthly repayments of £150 per month, but then lost my job and was unable to keep up with them. I did try and reason with them and offered to pay roughly £70 per month until I got myself sorted again but they wouldnt allow that. I defaulted and havent paid since, I am now in the process of sorting out all my finances and have successfully paid everything off apart from them. They are now saying that I owe them over £5000, now I understand that it was a high percentage level etc but im a little bit stunned, and I just really need a little bit of advice as to where I go from here. I am really wanting my credit file clear so that I can start saving for a mortgage.
I hope someone out there could give me some advice. Thanks in advance

Hiya
Well my experience of Welcome is awful - we took a £7000 loan then had problems as lost job and when we came to pay off once sold house it came to £19000.00 we owed!!! I was devasted it was all the equity in the house gone!!!
I guess though someone will be along soon to give more advice but I would never use Welcome Finance again:mad:
I NEED TO CHANGE MY BAD LUCK RUN!!!!
