Perhaps markob66 should consider taking out a short term loan/overdraft with the paperwork from the IFA as proof of what it was for. Then paying the IFA via a cheque to satisfy any audit trail.

I should have mentioned Paypal and even Google Checkout in my list of alternative payment methods as well as the IOU.

I just dont want to start getting back into the cyclo of debt again
Owing your FA is debt ....

You say you can pay in full in several months. You need to put forward something substantial now and every month until this is cleared. I doubt FA will be pleased, but you do not want to let this debt stand still long enough for the FA to aim a claim at you.

  • Thanks mr shadow thats what I intend to do.I have his bank details so ill fire 250 a month at him more if some of the crap on ebay sells.I am not prepared to get myself into major credit card debt if i can help it.And im afraid offsetting the payment to my FA is the lesser of two evils.I know all you IFAS out there will think this is an outrage, but Im looking after my financial interests now and have sworn to myself that I will not go down the credit card route again.
