in Loans
my wife who i have been seperated from for nearly three years has recently made her self insolvent,as we have bank loans in joint names the bank is chasing me for the money, for the last four months i have been in and out of my local branch trying to make arrangements to make payments on the loan that my wife was paying until four months ago,at first it seemed as though they were willing to help but now they have advised me to bank elsewhere and that the loan accounts are now in the hands of collections so i cant make payments to them. i was willing all along to make the payments on the loans and recently was willing to clear the arrears on my wifes loan but still they will not let me pay,i feel as though they would rather affect my credit rating than receive the money for the bank loans, had advice from CAB and local money matters and they cannot understand why they wont accept payments? dont know what is best, let this go to collections and deal with them or make my self insolvent? no matter what i do this has already affected my credit history and i cant even get myself a bank account to pay my other bills.

I used to work in the RBS collections department, so I could be of some use here if you have any questions.. If you're account is in collections then you have to speak to them about it, do you have the number?0

hi kieran,
the accounts go to collections on the 19th,i have been trying for months now to sort out payments to them, but they advised me to close my accounts and bank elsewhere, other financial advice places have told me to let it go to collections and then dictate to them how much i am willing to pay. The point is that it should have never have got to this as i was willing to pay them, but it has obviously affected my credit history now and will do so until i clear the debt. i have been informed that the interest should be removed now,is this the case? i have made a complaint now aswell to the financial ombudsman and they are goin to contact them on my behalf.0
