got one of these in the Great Somerfield/Kwiksave clearout for £39.

I like it, it gives voice announcements of approaching speed cameras and tells you to slow down if you are going too fast. It acts as a speedo too, giving a visible digital speed readout.
Its database is much more accurate than the Inforad Toad (recently on offer at DSG mainly PC World for £29.97), which just beeps and does not indicate which side of the road the camera is, unlike the Talex which knows the way the camera is pointing. The Talex also has a red light camera and mobile camera site warning, whereas the Inforad does'nt.

Keep an eye on Woolies too, as they also stock this unit and are always halving prices to clear older items.

Well I am surprised at the lack of interest in this post. They will have all gone by now. When I went to get mine there was a big queue for them and there were only about 30 in stock. Good bit of kit for the money.

I expect that's because most people already have speedometers fitted in their cars.

brad, you can get the Garmin i3 from ebuyer for £125 which if a fully functional GPS that can be used for route guidance and global positioning. On top of that you can install not only speedcam database (£2 from pocketgpsworld.com) plus thousands of points of interests for free. I am actually amazed that there are people who pay money to buy things like the Talex and more pay expensive subscriptions to get their database updates. i am sure that is one reason why people arenot very interested in this post.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????
