Teenage stretch marks??

Is there such a thing?
My 15 yr old DS has 3 marks across the middle of his back, the biggest approx 2ins long. They look like "new" stretch marks, deep red in colour, indented into the skin. He says he's not fallen over or scratched himself, but did say other taller lads at school had some too....

yep its possible, get him some bio oil to rub in, don't be put off that its an oil as its not greasy. My other half has quite a few old stretch marks on his back too. Also remember a friend at school that had them under her arms and back of her legs. Has your sons weight changed much? or is he just growing quickly?
  • He has had a bit of a growth spurt this last year or so, and is definately quite long in the body, although his legs don't seem to have got that much longer..I've got some Bio Oil that I use for a sugical scar of mine, so I'll give that a try.

  • Hi my husband has these in this place too, he said his appeared when he was about 16 , you can barley see them now though.

But my poor step-daughter had quite a lot on the top of her legs as she grew really quickly last year and is tall for a 15 year old girl ,

agree though the bio oil really helps fade them if they are still ready, alternatiely rosehip oil is good.

Cocoa butter is good for strech marks too (and cheaper than bio-oil)

I used it throughout my pregnancy and i didn't get any at all (and i ballooned in my last month)

I found that baby oil did the same as the Bio Oil, and my nana swears by it too (shes had 6 kids and has NO strech marks)

I applied baby oil to my OH cos he got strech marks on his back (he gained my baby weight) and its faded them :D

Yes, very possible my dd had these when she was about 11/12 and went through a growth spurt, they have faded to nothing now, she used a lot of cocoa butter, just the original Palmers, she has grown since and they dont seem to of come back but the research I did would all indicate that its quite normal, poor teenagers:( they really go through it dont they:rolleyes:

My DH is 40 and you can still see the ones on his hips in the right light, he took a growth spurt upwards when he was 16 so the lines go across the way on his body. They aren't noticeable though. They will fade in time, nothing to worry about.;)

Yes my DH, dad and brothers all have these, as they are slim and grew to 6'2 seemingly overnight. All of them have them in the same place.

I agree with others on the bio oil or rosehip oil. My teenage stretchmarks on my thighs have completely faded now.
  • i rub bio oil on my husbands back for these...must be from growing really quickly
    onwards and upwards
  • Bio oil for me too. Nothing to worry about whatsoever.
