2 Hoop Underskirt

Got my dress today, tried it on with a 2 hoop underskirt. The shop sells them for £50 which even the woman who works there said was a little expensive and to try the internet. Had a look and ebay and the 2 hoop underskirts are on there but the 2 hoops are further apart than the one I used in the shop.

Any one got any hoop buying tips?

Thanks!

No offence buzby boy but they look awful!!

Wardi, your dress is only as good as the foundation. (much like your undies) £50 for a 2 hoop doesn't seem that excessive to me in this day and age.

Thanks Linda, was hoping there would be a MSE way out there. It did make all he difference to that dress and also helped take the dress out a little from my stomach!!!

The ones on the site posted by buzby look closer to the one used that any of them on ebay.

Is it best just to get one via the bridal shop or is there many reputable sites out there?

    Hi Wardi.
Super dress (looked at your other post)
I would most defo suggest something with net and hoop opposed to hoop only. The net adds a definate softness to a skirt and stops some hoops from "showing through" some fabrics. Satin can be on of those fabrics especially, depending on petticoat quality.

Depending on your required fullness, a jupon 163 @ £54.00 would suffice.
Tulle Bridal petticoat 163 with one hoop and and three layers of flared net. Ideal for wearing with an a-line or princess dress. Gives shape to your gown without too much fullness. Lycra means will fit Size 10 to 16 Size 16 - 20 has velcro fastening waistband.

A 165 would be ok too for added fullnes @ £68.00
Net petticoat with five layers of flared net and one hoop. Ideal for fuller a-line or princess gown.

Just be careful with fullness as being too full, could distort the pick up detail in the skirt.

The lady in the shop said the same thing about going too full on fullness - spoils the shape of the dress and you do not get the desired effect.

You are a credit to this forum Linda!!! Expert advice as always :-)

  • Hi. Wow , £50 is good. In the shop where I bought my dress, the hoop was £89! Or u had the option to hire it for £60. I have bought it though, and am going to sell it to a friend for £40 as she is getting married a month after me, therefore saving us both money. I would reccommend buying the one from the actual shop though - last year my sis bought a cheaper one on ebay, and when she went for a dress fitting, it wasnt the right one for the dress, so she ended up having to buy full price anyway. Hope this helps xx

  • I am also looking for a hoop.

I have a very full skirt that is gathered similar to

(i dont have any pics of my wedding dress!)

so I am not concerned about the hoop showing through.

I have a slight train on my dress.

    what would be best?

I bought my two hoop underskirt from Ebay it cost just under £20 including the postage. It was exactly the same as the one I tried on in the shop which they wanted £90 for!

    It was perfect :)
