What do you do here? You send of for your CCA and they don't accept the recorded letter?

I posted 2 weeks ago and get the following from tracking

Item BR41********GB was posted at **** **** ****on 30/10/09 and is being progressed through our network for delivery.

I have the right address as got a statement from them a couple of weeks ago, and its head office not a PO box:rolleyes:

Postal strikes may have delayed delivery of your letter, as it still states it is out for delivery, not that it has been refused.
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

It could just be that they receive so many letters the Royal Mail don't bother getting signatures. Not reasonable RM behaviour but not unusual either.
  • I had the same information show up on Royal Mail for a letter I sent to Egg but I got a response from them, so the above posters are probably right on the money. If I were you I'd send them the follow up letter because the chances are they DID get the original.

Im shocked, :0 i don't see the point in paying for the recorded service if they don't carry it out.

Yep rather pointless, however Royal mail have done it to me before, if they see the car in the driveway they just put it through the door, no signature required.

I have a friend who worked for the RM and he says in some areas they dont bother waiting for the signature as they dont have enough time to wait!. Also they are left next door, and if they get a bad un! as he puts it, they only open the recorded delivery letters to see if there is anything worth nicking!.

Hi nirelandguy - long time no see.

If you do not have proof of delivery, i.e. signature, you can, reasonably, assume that the letter was received two days after you posted it.
Many DCA's and Creditors will often refuse to accept recorded deliveries, but, if this were the case, then the Post Office would have notified you by now.
To be on the safe side, may I suggest that you re-post the same letter, by ordinary first class mail, and ask for a 'certificate of posting' at the Post Office.
    Then start counting the days.

Wouldn't he have a proof or postage, by having the tracking number from the last letter though.

Yes, and as I said, he can, reasonably, expect that the letter was received within two days of posting. A 'copy' letter, by first class post, will re-inforce that situation.
Another 'proof', if one is required, would be the fact that the £1 po/cheque had been banked/cashed. Many dca's tend, totally illegally, to use this £1 'Statutory Fee' to 'credit' the account in question to try to argue, at a later date, that the debtor had acknowledged the debt by making a £1 payment towards it.
I am, therefore, trying to cover all angles.

Yes I got a receipt, the cheque hasn't be cashed as yet. I've already posted the second letter.
