TV/Film Extras work.

I did a bit of work for the 20/20 Casting agency in London, which was great, except I'm based in Nottingham, which made last minute work tricky.

Can anyone recommend a reputable agency in/near-to the Midlands area please?

Thanks.

Try Nottingham Uni Hospital, they hire "actors" to play patients, your given a brief, of how to act, then a series of junior doctors come in consult with you, and their performance is monitored.

They do this in Leicester too - quite long and involved though for the actors - they have to "learn" their condition and all the features of it and also have a full background family story.... I have seen some seriously impressive ones and they can all burst into tears spectacularly when key words come up in the consultation. ...
They gave very detailed background stories includoing family members / pets / jobs / holisday / hobbies... one had a"husband" who worked at Rover - when Rover ran into yet more problems she had to work in how that would affect the family -no gogod looking blank when the doc mentions it.

I think most NHS Trusts do this now, as they finally took on board the negative comments about how clinicians communicate with patients.

I have filmed a number of these sessions and they can be unintentionally hilarious. We are not supposed to do re-takes, but in some cases its unavoidable.
  • Does anyone know who you would need to contact at a hospital for this?
