What allowances do the CSA consider?

I am self employed

The CSA state that even though the Inland revenue allow me certain expenses to offset against tax, the CSA have a different set of what is allowed for thier system.

My question is, what do they NOT allow that the IRS do allow?

So in effect I now have to justify my income expenses to two different people. Can I refer the CSA to the IRS and say they have all the info so go speak to them?

Many thanks for any assistance

Capital depreciation is not allowed under CS law.
  • Ah like the 25% write down allowance for a car?

What if I claim mileage at x pence per mile that should be ok then

What kind of esxpenses do they not allow?

Provided it is for business use that is ok.

It is mostly in line with IR, except for capital depreciation so the rest should be fine.
  • Thats ok I keep a record of private and business usage (on one car) it ends up about 15% private. So thats just as per my tax returns then for the mileage. But the other car with the write down allowance the CSA will not allow even if its 75% business usage.

and cap depreciation (things like computers tools etc) is a very small amount so it wont make any real difference to the calculation.

Its weird, my ex (RP) thought she would up the ante by trying to get a variation based on assets and lifestyle inconsistent with income.

What she fails to understand is that my wife is the major wage earner she also got a payout from her ex (mutually agreed and at a level far below what she could have done but she thought it fair and im cool with that she has a good and relaxed relationship with her ex, the kids are well sorted and its good to get on with each other) my wife also gets maintenance as well (again mutually agreed at a level her ex was ok with).

So my ex hasnt got a hope in hells chance of getting a payment to fuel her lifestyle with my wifes money.

My business this year has gone tots up (recession) and my ex has forced me to spend £8000 on solicitors (I can ill afford so my parents have stumped up that) to defend against her application for residence (which the court handed to her on a plate anyway (therefore solicitors were a waste of money)

So her application for a variation has meant a recalculation at a time when I have made a loss. I think her weekly payments will go from 14 to £5

Its not that I dont want to pay maint for my child but i want it to go to my childs benefit and not her lifestyle. When I have contact my child is well cared for and if my ex has a problem with the money she doesn't get well I have one answer

LET ME HAVE MY CHILD FULL TIME AND I WONT ASK HER FOR MAINTENANCE:eek:
