Can anyone help?!
I have recently bought a new tv and there was some packaging glue on the black gloss plastic.
Very stupidly I decided to get a green sponge and try to rub it off, this has now left a load of small scratches where the glue was.
Has anyone got any tips on how to fix this?
I have tried looking for some sort of gloss plastic cleaning or repair kit, but there doesn't seem to be any.

Oh dear, you will not get rid of the sratches but what about trying giving it a rub with black shoe polish - the polish might fill in the cracks???If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0 -
I tried the liquid shoe polish, black car polish, both didn't work.
I will try regular shoe polish too.
I have also found some plastic restorer / polish online called Novus, I am going to order some of that and see if that helps.
You can't really see the mark and wouldn't notice it, but is just that I know that it is there and it bugs me!!0 -
IF there is a place where the plastic is out of view, try brasso and sandpaper...the BACK of the sandpaper not the abrasive side. Polish it out that way, we used to do this making clear perspex demo components that were scratched during manufacture but came up clear as glass with a lot of gentle elbowgrease. The stuff you have may have a skin and porous underneath..that will make it impossible, so test somewhere it won't matter if there is such a spot.

If anyone is interested, I got that Novus plastic polish off ebay, and it worked a treat.
There are 3 different bottles, 3 is the abrasive polish for big scratches, 2 less abrasive polish for small scratches, 1 is the plastic cleaner and glossy finish.
I just used 2 then 1 and the marks have gone.
I don't know what is in this stuff but it is brilliant, worked out at about £10 because I had to buy it from the US.
I am not a sales person for this stuff but it is a shame it isn't sold in the UK. It seems to have loads of uses from cleaning all sorts of plastics included CDs etc.
There must be a big market for this product, even if it were just for cleaning tvs, like mine.0 -
Don't know if it would work but I know they sell stuff for smartening up car dashboards in Halfords, it comes in matt and glossy finishes. Might be worth a try?
xThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0 -

The clear T-cut was recommended to my OH by a piano restorer for cleaning small scratches out of his black gloss piano. It does an amazing job, I'd definitely give it a try on plastic (taking all the usual precautions and trying an unobtrusive bit first).0 -
To be honest I think the plastic polish is quite similar to t-cut, but a lot finer and less abrasive.
It is in different grades, 3 being the most abrasive for deep scratches, 2 for fine scratches or marks, and 1 is just a finish polish and cleaner.
I would say t-cut would probably be the same as 3 or possibly higher as tcut does seem to have more particles in it when you use it on cars etc.
I did use black car polish which is almost identical to tcut, but it just didn't work on the plastic.
I just thought that with all the lcd / plasma tvs that are on the market, there would be loads of products available to clean / restore them. But when I needed one there just doesn't seem to be any around.
I think I am beginning to sound like a sales rep for this stuff now, but I was amazed at just how good it is.0 -
how about that magic car polish? claims to cover all scuffs and scratches on cars.................. thats what its called too MAGIC in a blue bottle0
