Any Advice for RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) Sufferer Please?

I have suffered with this for about 15 years. It started with a job where all I done was type type type. The demand was high so the output had to be higher. The result was I've been left with RSI. I changed my job about 10 years ago and also went part time which helped a lot. I still suffer from bouts of it especially now Ive been decorating and spring cleaning. I couldn't peg out the washing, wash my hair or even cut up my dinner for most of last week. I haven't been on this site for over a week because both my arms were just so painful. I have been advised by the doctor to take nurofen/paracetamol and have been referred to physiotherapist again. He says that as its the tendons thats swollen theres not a lot you can do. It is different from carpel tunnel syndrome which is something to do with the nerves so I dont think an op can help either. Does anyone else have this and what do you take. I know we cannot give out medical advice but what do fellow sufferers take/do.

Lucky you getting a physio-therapist. I have private health insurance but I havent had a referal. The Drs tell me that it wont do any good?!!! They make me crazy!
I just take a course of diclofenac when its really bad. Its a stronger version of ibuprofen. It helps for a while. I don;t know what the answer is. Mine is self inflicted from when I used to play an online game all the time.:heart2:I have a child with autism.:heart2:0 -
Not sure if I'm lucky with the physio - its a 9-12 month wait! My doctor has never offered me diclofenac - is it prescription only? I only get the stronger version of brufen which is about double the dose of the normal ibroprufen so sometimes its cheaper for me to buy these over the counter and double up the dose because the doctor is a bit tight with his prescription quantities.0

Well, I would ask to try diclofenac and see if it helps any. Its also good for toothache if anyone is interested.:heart2:I have a child with autism.:heart2:0

Working out what makes it flare up and avoiding that as much as possible is a counsel of perfection, I know, but I think Martin would agree that it's the only way to go!
For the computer, a wrist-rest is essential for me, and making sure your posture is good. Or speech recognition software!Signature removed for peace of mind0
