What can I do

Hi Moon Beam
I've never really thought what makes me go oooh! I thought I really loved the products I sold with my previous companies and I did put everything I had into my work. I really can't afford to try anything but really need to get some extra income to pay bills and have a little left over!0 -
HiHave you thought about working on chat or text lines?I work opn a texting adult site, and a tarot one, also I do adult phone work and between the three of them I make a reasonable income. You do have to consider the following though...Are you quite open minded and not shockable - you need to be able to talk about many things lol. You need to be able to commit to a minimum of 15 hours a week. You have to do it as self employed and are responsible for your own taxes. There are one or two companies out there which are charlotons and will not pay you very well - there are reputable ones though !
You only need a land line and a pc, even the texting is actually done on the pc!0 -
The other thing worth considering - though it takes some outlay - is becining a pet microchip implanter.
I trained to do this because I have my own animal rescue charity, but you can actually make a living from it if you advertise well etc.
I did a one day course, and you need to buy your equipment, which was an outlay of about £250 - but you can easily charge £15 an implant, so if you advertised in pet shops, vets etc, you would soon make that back.
I would really strongly advise getting public liability insurance though - incase you injure an animal or greak something lol - this costs me £13 a month.
Next year, legislaltion is coming into force that all dogs MUST be chipped - so now is the time to get trained !0 -
Hi Kelly Lou
I really think you should give it a bit of thought - there is a book called "kitchen table tycoon" that I read to help me work out what I wanted to do. If you really want to go down the self employed route (and I include party plan in that) they it is a great book to get you started.
You could also conside Neals Yard at Home - whilst they are primarily a party plan company but there is also the option to sell the product online through your own website with them - so if you can build up a big enough base you would be able to sell directly without leaving the house. I have more information about that too as I know some senior people within the company. They also have a baby range and a mens range so are a very versatile company.
Seriously though, think a lot before parting with any cash to join other initiative as you really want to feel strongly about if you want to sell, if you have the time to sell and what products you are selling.0 -
Interesting thread. Thanks Guys.0

Hi Moonbeam
I tried to pm you with regards to Neal Yards but it won't send0 -
Have responded to Kelly_lou on the Barefoot Books thread but just thought I would mention it on here also.
Candlegirl is right that with all these companies you really need to work at it to make money there is no quick fix, I work for barefoot books selling beautiful children's books. Like the other companies you do have to put in effort but at least unlike some you can start without an initial outlay, when you join for free you get your own website which you can promote and sell through, at least that way although it may take up some time you wont lose out on cash.
If you do then decide you want to buy some books to sell on it is up to you, but you are not tied to any targets or amount you have to sell. If anyone wants any more info feel free to pm me

Hi Kelly_lou

I agree with all above - I am actually involved with 2 companies mentioned here which are Party Lite and Neals Yard
I joined Neals Yard because I am totally in love with the products - they are all chemical free, smell gorgeous and my skin really has never been better
I joined Party Lite - again because I love the products and love the way they make my house smell beautiful and with no start-up cost made an easy choice for me
My children are older now - both being in comp and I work full time myself supporting young adults with special needs in college but I love life and living it to the full
Good luck and I hope you find your niche hunny
