Tower fan at aldi

Just bought one of these tower fans

at aldi for £14.99, remote control wih timer. Got it home - works a treat, remote control, timer, oscillates etc

Then went to asda, similar model (but different brand) £30.00

With a potentially hot summer seems to be a bargain.

Looks good value - especially coming with a remote too - might have to go have a look tomorrow. Ours broke last year and I'm reluctant to pay £30 for something that doesn't get used that often.

Edit - just noticed it's a "Sunday Special Buy" - does that mean they're only at that price today?

Don't quote me on it but i think they started doing twice weekly offers so it should be there until at least Thursday when they bring out their new offers:)

The sunday bit just means its not available till sunday, but its price is fixed till the store run out (and they usually do of good stuff)

LIDL are doing something very similar from tomorrow (Monday June 5) BUT cheaper at £12.49 AND a 3 year warranry - seems to have all the same features. No remote control though.

  • Of course, warranry is scottish for warranty! Sorry.

    :rotfl: you are excused :T
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

IMHO Normal fans seems to give you more of a "gale force wind" - tower fans seem to be slightly more gentle but cover a greater area (the fan being from ground level up to the top of the machine, rather than concentrated in one area). Plus the tower ones are usually safer when you have little fingers around!

Ah well - sent the OH off on a hunt! :D

I'm taking mine back. It's much noisier than a normal fan and you certainly couldn't watch TV with it on or have it on overnight.

It's also not very powerful - you can hardly feel the breeze in a large room although it should be ok in a small room.
