Home-made Photo Calendars? Binding?

Hi there,

We've had the idea (as probably have many others) of printing our own calendars to give as gifts this Xmas, but I'm puzzled as to how we can bind them.

Certainly can't afford to buy a wiro binding machine!

Saw a kit in Mr T's that had 12 sheets to print on and some kind of binding mechanism, but didn't buy it as I thought "Only 12 sheets? What happens if one of them prints wrong, you don't have a spare!"

Don't really want to simply hole-punch and use ribbon, as I don't feel that would be substantial enough.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks in advance, and apologies if this has been asked before (BG please merge if appropriate)

I have made my own calendars every year and have always paid to have them bound. I think about doing them myself but can never work out a way to do it. the binding would be easy it's the hanging bit that is the problem.
I too would love to hear any ideas of how I could bind and hang my own:D

roughly how much does it cost?
we get ours done at the local printing shop but it is not cheap and when you've got a few to do works out expensive. i thought if I could do it myself it would cut costs not short term but over the years.

Thanks for this, our nearest Staples is listed as a copy centre. Wonder how much it costs?

  • Give them a call...I'd be interested to know if you do find out.

When I used to get things bound for uni it was a couple of pounds, but that was on campus.

Don't know if this is an option for you but Poundland and 99p stores sell make-your-own calendars where you can just stick in your own photos? Comes ready stapled!

sethsgran I will have a look at staples as that is much cheaper than what I paid last year.

thevicster I have seen the ones in poundland and if I could choose just one photo per month would use them! I put lots of little photos on each month cos I can't decide which ones to put:D
