I have had a drought the last few months - I normally drag and drop in IE8 - is Firefox different, am I stll showing where I come from, do you think this is why I have stopped winning???

I think that IE is different and it doesn't work

not showing the referrer does help but it really depends on how many comps you enter as well, I am at home all day looking after my wife and so I enter most of the comps on mse

however my win rate does seem to have improved since I stopped showing the referral link
