Endwoment claim upheld, now onto the calculations

About a month ago, thanks to this site, I started off the process of making a claim for my parent's endowment.
They received a letter yesterday which said that their claim was upheld but that they did not provide sufficient information so that an amount could be awarded (if any) - with the result that they have a couple more forms to fill out.

In filling out these froms they have the option of either:
a) Using the details of their actual mortgage with A&L; or
b) Using the default SVR rates which are the from the Halifax.

As my parents are not very money savvy they never moved their mortgage and so were on an A&L SVR for the 20 years that they have held their mortgage.

My question is, seeing as they are allowed to choose under which basis they can get the claim calculated, does any bright people know which lending institutions' (A&L or Halifax) SVRs would be the most beneficial to their case over the past 20 years?

If have all the rates and dates of the A&L mortgage, then you can supply them. If not, its not really worth considering that option as you couldnt supply that data anyway. This is why the Halifax SVR option exists.

Every day that the response is delayed, they are potentially reducing the amount of the redress that they are getting due to a growing stockmarket (last few weeks may have had some volatility but things appear to have stabilised a bit and by the time they do the calculation, the markets could be higher). This is not something you need to dwell on. Either supply the data from the A&L or choose the Halifax.
