Mortgage question - separation

Hi,
I am posting this question on behalf of a friend who is separating from her husband. SHe is trying to remain in the family home with their children. Her partner has agreed on a settlement amount. She wants to extend her mortgage now to buy him out. She has a good salary and so there should not be any problems with her raising the amount. She has a couple of questions - 1) her current mortgage is with RBS - is it wise to continue with them ie she has read a lot in the past few weeks about their losses etc. I suspect this is ok as they are government backed bascially and so are probably as safe as any other bank. 2) is she likely to incurr a lot of charges ie ERC by taking his name off the mortgage and deeds? 3) are there any other issues she should consider?

Phone up RBS! They will tell you if she is required to pay a ERC fee.
With limited information and not going through the right lines, it might be actually better seeking an adviser directly.
As for the deeds, a solicitor is required. To be honest, this will be a brand new mortgage application anyway.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'
