Historical SVRs

Trying to decide between 2 different banks to go onto a new mortgage now my previous fixed rate has ended.

I thought it would be interesting to look at a comparison of historical SVRs from the major mortgage lenders to help me get some sort of guide as to how they have 'behaved' in the past.

Does anyone know where I might find this information?

I think it would be a really helpful thing to see and may cut through some of the flannel I'm currently getting from potential lenders as the problem is that there is never any historical record of what they've actually done.

Many thanks!

Given the impact of the Credit Crunch, I would be very cautious about looking at historical behaviour. A previously "good" lender on SVR in 2003 is going to have a different outlook in 2009/10.

All lenders will be looking for ways to widen their margins and what they've done in the past on SVRs is irrelevant.

I'd play the game in the here and now if I were you.

The BBC news web site had a good summary of rate changes between Oct 08 and April 09. Search on there for more recent activity.
  • Thank you - I'll take a look.

I'm thinking historically because at some point rates are going to go up and at some point things are going to settle down so I wanted to check out their track records
