Token payments

Hi everyone,
I was about to start on a DMP with CCCS yesterday but my dh needs more time to consider this, he is a bit wary of it all and hasnt had time to come on here or speak to CCCS about said DMP. Im all upset as I know this is gonna help us so much but have to respect him.
I am needing to pay 2 creditors and due to quite a lot of unexpected bills I wont have enough to pay them normal payments.
I know I can send a 1 pound payment and say I am about to start on a DMP but is this ok without sending a SOA to them, I ask this as there is money showing in account as of today but there wont be enough to manage for rest of month so if I sent in a SOA it would to all intense and purposes show money but not explain why I cant send full amount..
Do I make sense, its 3.30 am and im so so stressed and worried about everything.
I have enough to send token postal orders and can do that today, but what do I write ?

Hi
Yes, I'd send them token payments with a letter explaining that you are looking into a dmp with CCCS. They will probably have a tantrum but ignore it but keep paying them token payments until you know whether you are going onto a dmp.
Keep everything in writing with them - do not speak to them on the phone.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Hi - this might be a bit late but here is a token payment letter that doesn't mention an income & expenditure - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=21937969&postcount=52A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Hi, I didn't want to create another thread but I have a question regarding token payments.
I can't meet the minimum repayments this month and I am going under a DRO order as soon as it gets approved. Should I pay my creditors £1 like I normally do (internet transfer) or do I need to send them this ( http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=21937969&postcount=52 ) letter and a pound coin? (I dont have a cheque book)0 -
Might be better to send the letter, but make the transfer via the internet.
That way you can prove the £1 got to them, whether they like it or not.

Hiya Annie
We had our telephone meeting with CCCS last week and are sending out our first £1 token pay letters, we are quite nervous about this and their responses.
However, one thing the chap from CCCS did say that stood out to me was dont think you are alone doing this, there are thousands in the same boat making £1 payments, and at least then your creditors know you are taking problem seriously and getting advice from the CCCS which will hopefully keep them sweeter.
He was great on the phone, very encouraging and not at all judgemental!! Best thing we ever did phoning them, I can sleep at night again.0 -
Hi everyone, I am new to all this as well. I think there will be a lot of people in the same boat tbh. Myself and OH have also done the cccs debt remedy and I was feeling quite positive until I spoke to a guy there yesterday who was probably having a bad day (I imagine it was a nightmare for them busy). Anyway their online suggestion had been iva or low start dmp, so we thought ok lets try the dmp but I had a lot of questions to ask as we are really worried about things. The cccs guy sounded very matter of fact and not very sympathetic, I came off the phone more confused and do not have a clue how to make token payments, he just said don't pay more than £5 to each creditor. So now we're swinging between the 2, do we try the dmp or go to onto an iva and just have done with it? Its all so confusing.
