In the midlands a lot of people who used to be a PCSO have gone on to be a PC.

British Transport Police is one that gets overlooked, and for this reason is often a good one to think about. Once youve passed your 2 year probation, you can always transfer to another force. (service is the PC word).

How do you find out about the roles with the police in the none officer positions (you know, like traffic wardens, dispatchers and so on)?
Aren't traffic wardens employed by local authorities? And do we have 'dispatchers' in the UK?

Civil Nuclear Constabularly are on a recruitment drive at the moment. Will need to move quickly though as deadline is 27th November.

A slightly different police force though but police all the same.

One that always gets forgotten, yet the pay is excellent and training very good. thumbs up!

Ministry of defence police might be of interest too.

NB. both the above require firearms training.

I think the more regularly used terms are "Communications Officer" and "Controller". Not many forces have dispatchers that I know of.
