This is my first post.
I have an endowment policy which I would like to surrender, (value in august 09 was 10000 pounds. I want to give this to my three adult children, one has just got married, one has a new baby and one has student loans etc.
However, I have debts which I am paying off monthly.
What problems am I likely to encounter?

1 What the endowment was worth in august 09 and what it is worth now may well be less !
2 Why not clear your own debts first and then if you have some money left over then treat the kids to up to £3000 each ( gift)
3 Are you on benefits and have you got any other savings
4 your kids need to stand on there own two feet and look after themselves
5 How long has the endowment left to run and is there a bonus at the end ?

Have you asked recently for a valuatioin.

Why not post the details of your policy on here and someone would
be able to tell you whether its wise to cash it in or not.
But in the meantime i really would (in the present economic climate) ask
for another valuation.
