How can I make curtains stretch?

Or you could use your current curtains' fabric and lining to make blinds, it is exactly what I am doing at the moment, using the fabric of some curtains that had been made for us by DH's aunt. They weren't fitting very well and we decided to have roman blinds, but they cost an absolute fortune. So I started this project at the craft class that I normally attend (regardless of the need for curtains, that is!). Long process but I am nearly there, and very satisfying.
When we enquired about buying made-to-measure roman blinds the best quote was just under £500. I am saving a fortune! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
