We got his divorce so we CAN get married but it's not all good.

So the house is in £40k negative equity. (remortgaged before the split to cover her debts)
So he's got borrowings (mostly to cover what she took)
So she took £50k of assets when she left and two companies with potential earnings.
Apparently that doesnt mean that she cant have more. We're now looking for a loan to pay off the EXTRA £10k the court awarded her in the settlement.
Not to mention we're over £10k in solcitor costs in the last year alone.
Okay then so that means we're down £110k shall we say that out loud One Hundered and Ten Thousand Pounds!!
There's no kids, she works, she's not paying rent. WHY!!!!
But he is now divorced and we can now move forward. :j
We can get married. :j
I guess we're just looking at re-budgeting the budget
Them babies will just have to wait an extra year before arriving. (You listening non-existant babies... you have to wait)
It's a good thing really tho - first day of the rest of our lives as they say. :T
Just have to re-evaluate the world and cut back more than we already have. Glad you guys are on hand for tips
I dunno whether to be exstatic happy, sad or p!ssed off!

Glad we picked a longer date now

Do you even have £110k to give her?
That sounds really weird to me. can you not appeal or anything? What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0 -
works out that it's not in cash totally.
she's taken £50k with the business stock and everything she could carry outta the house. (Doesnt include projected earnings)
Then the house is £40k of negative equity which he's had to pick up. Stuck in their old house now till it's in positive and we could get another mortgage if we're not too up to our eyeballs in debt.
we've paid (borrowed to pay) £10k of solicitors fees
and now have to find a loan for £10k "settlement"
at the moment I need to find about £13k to pay all this 'stuff' the rest I'm gonna write off. Have to, cant think about it or I'll go loony.
Thing is we know she's lied to the courts which pee's me off.
She gets this "settlement" cos my OH is on more than average wage. Serves him right for doing okay for himself without anything but highschool education.
God does that sound bitter??
Screw it - I'm getting married. I'm the happiest I've ever been in my entire life, she cant wreck it. She's got nowt to do with us now
We'll get married, move house eventually, have babies.
But for now I got a roof over my head, the love of my life, my poopy dawgs and heck I got chickens in the garden, I know the garden's teeny but we squeeeeeazed em in
I might be stuck in a two bed terrace but from the bedroom window I can see home grown veg, happy chooks and probably that beagle digging up the lawn :rotfl:
Make the best with what you got and all that."I know that Prince Charming doesn’t come save me, we save each other and fight back to back against all comers that’s what marriage is to me. Nothing passive, no being carried off on a white steed, give me my own damn horse and lets ride into the sunset side by side." - Laurell K. Hamilton.0 -
Paulie..if you know that the ex has lied..then appeal to the court, find proof that she has lied.
I would certainly be telling the court that the £10K settlement cannot be paid..don't get a loan to cover it, offer to pay it at £2 a week as that is all that you can afford.0 -
I think we're better off with no links to her. I'd rather have the loan.

I guess a quieter life is more important than the money. (And I guess that's what she was counting on)
She's been utterly vile, from breaking in to trying to poison the dogs to trying to work out who my ex was to stir up trouble.
When she broke in she tipped all my medication down the drain and I'd just come outta hospital from having a cancer op.
The further she is from us the better. Just such a shame it had to cost so much to do it.
Of course I might change me mind if we cant get a loan
but dont trouble, trouble unless trouble, troubles you (or some such use of punctuation
)
Today I'm happy it's all over."I know that Prince Charming doesn’t come save me, we save each other and fight back to back against all comers that’s what marriage is to me. Nothing passive, no being carried off on a white steed, give me my own damn horse and lets ride into the sunset side by side." - Laurell K. Hamilton.0 -
Just wanted to wish you all the best, I think you have a beautiful attitude to life, and the ex needs to remember that the Karma train comes round pretty quickly sometimes!

I reeeeeeeeally agree with Karma! Very much so. My ex's mother said for him to break up with me and they'd "help look after DD" but never had. Just after DD was born and they never came to see her or help or anything, She had a stroke.
Don't P*ss Karma off! It can be a B*tch:beer:
