Morning all!
I went to sainsburys yesterday and found out that they give away the gammon bones
so i thought i'd try ham and peas in the slow cooker, but im not sure if i can put the tablet from the box in the slow cooker and if it would work or exlode :rotfl:
Would be grateful for some help here if anyone has any thoughts please!
The gammon bone is HUGE and theres loads of meat left on it, but its too big to get in the sc, might just have to cut the ham off the bone, but it seems a shame not to be able to simmer every last scerrit off it
, any thoughts on that? Its too big for the roasting tin.....
Thanks for any thoughts

thanks for the headsup on the gammon bones - what a great find!!
sorry, but i'm just gonna cutandpaste what i said the other day!!
i used those no-soak peas just in the s/c with the hock, some chopped carrots and onions, hour on high then all day on low, and the result was lovely. spooned out some of the more intact peas to eat with some meat and the veg and some roast pots, then had the left over meat and beautifully flavoured peas for lots of portions of pea and ham soup.
i didnt use the tablet. i normally use 'green split peas' from sainsburys or local whole food shop but thought i should use up that odd pacekt in the pantry. it was fine. no, actually, it was fabulous!
oh, i'll see if i can post a link to that thread, it should help: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2065387Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23.
