You'd be better off with voile or organza if you want a little bit extra draughtproofing, rather than fabric with lots of holes ie net.Val.0

Have you a local man who fits windows?
Sometimes they need a slight adjustment, are they UPVC?
I had to get the fitter back to adjust mine, only took him 2 mins.0 -
Hi Mrs E
Yes they are UPVC.
They have been in for over 21 years so wonder if this will make a difference.
Thanks

Is the draught coming from the middle (where they meet), the sides or the bottom? Do you think that draught-proofing strips might be of use?
Sometimes, when we've gone from fitted carpets to laminate floors, there are large gaps under doors - could this be a problem? It's amazing how many of our front doors are having force10 gales coming under them - the doors were fitted to give carpet clearance height, so they need 'brushes' or 'excluders' fitting to the bottoms.0 -
Hi Ollie
The draught is coming from the middle but at the bottom, if that makes sense.

If there's already some draughtproofing strips in place, maybe they've got more worn there than elsewhere. If not, maybe fitting some would be a good idea. Try experimenting first with some folded pieces of newspaper inserted in the gap before closing the door. If that helps, then you could go ahead and get enough to replace the old stuff.

Part of the problem is the age of the patio doors, the glass gap will be small, and the glass will have no resistance to the cold, I found this out recently, the regulations changed n 2002 so if your double glazing or doors are prior to this they are not as efficient as they may be. Another option is to check the sealing of the from to the brickwork outside, we just found ours had detriorated and needed re-sealing, and some spray foam filling underneath.
Thermal linings will be a major improvement, I cannot see nets or voiles having any effect tbh.

Hi donny-gal
What is thermal lining and where would that go on the window?
Thanks

hi hun - my old patio doors were draughty too!!! didnt find nets or voiles any help whatsoever!!! i had new french doors fitted last year instead - and had to get company back as they were draughty too!!! was a simple matter of adjusting the way they hang! the guy told me that with the sliding doors sometimes after the house has settled shifted the doors get slammed a few times - the actual frame needs the adjustment - not the doors! a good installer could prob do this for you and if the doors etc still good - would be worth the money! so i would look for upvc doctors - and see if thats the prob!
donny-gal is right as the prob may well be the sealing has deteriorated over time.0
